If it were me, I would choose the 185/65-15 tire size. Skinnier tires
have better traction in snow, and that's your main intent for these
'winter wheels', right? I really miss my older Saab 96's for the winter
beaters that I used them for. The 155-15' tires made those cars feel
invincible in the snow. Wider tires tend to ride up on top of the snow,
and are inherently more dangerous at speed. Have you ever seen anyone
try to negotiate a 'surprise' snow storm in a newer Corvette? I think
those guys better be carrying a spare change of underwear! I've seen
more than one end up in the guard rails.
The only thing you'll be sacrificing is tire wear--a less-wide tire will
wear more quickly than a wider tire. Then there's dry-weather
performance, where the wider tire should out perform. But again, these
are your winter tires...
