It's bull-puckey...

The wastegate on a 'B' motor is completely different than on an 'H'
motor. it's part of the manifold.

You *could* update the whole thing to the 'H' type setup. This would
require Manifold, 'H' motor turbo (EARLY non-APC style) with
wastegate assembly, and the front exhaust down pipe. The wastegate
will then operate off of inlet pressure, rather than the exhaust
pressure.

Most, if not all, of the older turbo manifolds are cracked or will
crack. My advice, is to hunt around for a shop willing to weld the
cast iron manifold. Once you found one, go to the boneyard and find
the best one you can, maybe two if they're cheap enough, and give
THOSE to the welder. Then, when he finishes one, you can put that one
on.
