I wish this were true. My '89 900 had a problem with vibration and noise
coming from under the floor beneath the dash. I brought it in 3 times
while under warranty and the dealer wrote it up variously as 'exhaust
noise,' 'transmission noise,' etc. Finally, while having a tire checked
at a tire shop, the tire tech felt it while driving into the shop and siad
he thought it was a driveline problem. When I went back to the dealer (now
OUT of warranty), a tech rode with me and immediately diagnosed a faulty
right front driver. While they did give me some credit toward the repair,
they used their faulty diagnoses as an excuse NOT to honor the warranty,
even though the problem occured while still covered.

They also did not fully cover a fuel pump that failed just out of warranty
that was a result of the well known 'oxygenating solvent vs. fuel filter
glue problem.' That is the problem of solvents in some gasoline
formulations dissolving the glue that holds the fuel filter cartridge
together and allowing glue pieces to jam and burn out the fuel pump. They
did cover multiple brake problems that occured during the warranty and even
replaced a stress-cracked windshield. However, I felt they should have
covered the other two items in full, since they were obvious manufacturing
defects. For the record, except for tires, I had ALL of my work done at
the dealer, including oil changes, so I felt they should have cut a bit
more slack.

This is one of the many reasons why, when my last Saab expires, it will be
replaced by another make.
