I've read somewhere that running the engines at a slightly higher =
temperature=20 helps with lowered emissions. I don't know if that has any
deleterious = effects on things like hose or gasket life, at least at the
temperature = differentials that might be involved here.

One reason I was motivated to put a lower temp thermoswitch in my '88 = 900S
was the age of the car (original radiator). Another was to help circumvent =
the=20 dreaded 'heat shutoff', where high coolant temps in idling/stop and go
= conditions=20 during cold weather cause the 3-stage thermostat to dump all
the coolant = flow to=20 the radiator, and shut it off from the heater core.
Since putting in = the lower temp switch, I don't notice it happening much
anymore.
