I recently installed the Ford Taurus cupholder/coin tray in my 9000.
Installation was easy enough. Though I extended the antenna cable to
reachthe relocated stereo. Also be aware that the cupholder unit is
quite deep at ~7inches. My center stack from top: aftermarket CD
receiver, cupholder, stock cigarette lighter/tray. This layout allows
basic access to the stereo when the cupholders is in use. Also, I shift
with the side of the transmission knob going into 3rd and 5th being
careful not to bump the bottom of the drink.
In the end, it is the poor function of this cupholder that ruins it.
The holder doesn't hold a 12oz soda can securely; doesn't look like it
could hold anything well Blame it on the design or blame it on poor
quality. The coin tray is so far useless for me. And it can only be
remove by finessing the locking tabs from the back. Inserting the
U-shape stereo extractor thingies into the four holes from the front
didn't work for me.
