Actually it is not silly to be using 93 octane. Age of the car makes no
difference. The APC adjusts the wastegate to the turbo by sensing engine
knock. The lower the octane, the higher the chance for knock. Therefore,
by using lower octane, the APC will detect knock sooner and open the
wastegate sooner thereby reducing performance, even though reliability and
durability have been protected.
