Last weekend a new dealership of Saab opened in Vienna, Austria (it is Saab 
only shop following the new World strategy of Saab, I like it but time will 
show if it is effective here). They held Saab Open days showing the new 
'Saab address' in Vienna and the current  9-5 with a new 3.0 V6 Commonrail 
Turbodiesel engine. I went there too late to test drive the new 9-5 engine 
but had enough time to talk to the Saab people about what's forthcoming.

They confirmed what Stephen wrote in his e-mail about 9-3. The new 2003 9-3 
will be a sedan (the guy said they had a chance to look at it and he says 
it looks great) followed by a 9-3 Wagon. He also stressed that there will 
be a lot of other improvements modifications of the 9-3 line. The hatchback 
will be dropped.

Also for those in Europe interested in Saab diesel. The current 9-5 3.0 V6 
TiD is available as manual only, automatic comes in winter 2002. Also, as 
of February 2002, 9-5 will be fitted with the 2.2 TiD diesel engine and 
will be available immediately as automatic and manual.
