Lynnie,
The fact that your car (I assume it's a 900S) is running warm, is
common to all Saab 900's, ie: those that have not had their cooling systems
modified. What you need to do is the following:
Go to your local Saab repair shop or dealer and ask them to fit an 82
degree Celsius thermostat and fan switch (these are two different parts,
mind you). I couldn't tell you how much it costs, because I did this
myself, to my 1991 Saab 900. It shouldn't be more than $500, if you have a
local independent shop do it. In addition, go to Townsend Imports web site
no39sdcx6spamx782 www.townsendimports.com and click on 'ENTER'. From there, go to
'TECHNICAL PAGES'. From there, go to 'COOLING SYSTEM' and read about how
to modify the wiring of your cooling and A/C fans so that both turn on at
the same time, regardless of whether the A/C is running or not. This
modification is not very hard to do at all (~30 min.), but if you feel
uneasy about doing it, just take the printouts to your local shop and have
them do it. What this does is provide maximum cooling all the time. If
you do both of these things, (the thermostat and fan switch replacement and
the wiring and relay modification), your temperature gauge needle will
NEVER go above the halfway mark, something that I am much more comfortable
with.
Any more questions? e-mail me.

Regards,
Bilal Hassan
