Several years ago I got a replacement for the driver's side mirror
(also for a 1988 9000T) from a small local auto parts store, who in
turn farmed it out to a glass shop they dealt with.

As I recall, I removed the mounting plate, traced the outline of
the remaining unbroken mirror (in my case, the passenger side),
and brought both the plate and the tracing to the parts store.  A
couple of days later they had a new mirror mounted, ready for me
to place back in the housing.  I think there was some question
about whether the replacement glass would hold up to the electric
defroster, but it did.  The cost was about $15, I think.

Phil,

Go to a glass dealer.  Places that do replacement windshields can also do the
rear view mirrors.  Easy job for them.

I have the side mirror for a '86 9000.  I don't know much about Saabs, so I
don't know if it is interchangable.  Send me $20 and your address and it's
