Chirping Noise

I have an 89 Saab 9000 turbo, and it makes a chirping noise in first and
second gear. The noise is loudest when I accelerate from a complete stop.
The chirping is less noticeable when changing from first to second gear.

The chirping takes place when: (1) I am pressing down on the accelerator and
letting go of the clutch pedal, and (2) for a few seconds after the gear is
fully engaged. There is no chirping once I am moving along.

Any thoughts on the cause for this?

Thanks,
Ramon
