Replacing Oil Pump O-Ring and Crankshaft Pulley

After hearing the dreaded 'cold morning loud squeal' in my 1991 900 T a =
month ago, I searched the archives to discover that this was a symptom =
of a failing crankshaft pulley aka harmonic balancer pulley. After =
ordering and receiving all the parts (oil seal o-ring, crankshaft seal, =
crankshaft pulley) from www.sobstory.com for a very reasonable $99 =
delivered, I commenced to assemble the tools needed (metric sockets, 10 =
mm wrench, 12 mm wrench, 27 mm wrench).

For the benefit of others attempting this repair, here are some =
additional points in addition to the details in other postings:
- removing the belts was straightforward
- removing the outer pulley on the crankshaft pulley was very difficult, =
done mostly by feel and occaisionally cranking the engine (unplug the =
coil) to rotate the pulley to the right angle
- in my car, a 27 mm socket would not fit between the crank pulley and =
the firewall, requiring me to purchase a large 27 mm wrench (contrary to =
postings by other users in the archives)
- using a large PVC pipe slipped over the wrench and a piece of wood =
chocked in the engine compartment to block the pipe, I cranked the =
engine to unlock the large bolt
- slipping the pulley off required a lot of pulling and jiggling
- slipping the oil pump required a lot of prying (use a screwdriver or =
pry bar) and jiggling
- unbolting the oil pump again required a lot of feel (there are a total =
of 12 bolts .. I ended up taking off 14 and had to figure out which ones =
where not related to the pump)
- replacing components was fairly straightforward (don't forget to prime =
the oil pump by packing with grease)
- retightening the crankshaft bolt was difficult since I have an =
automatic transmission and didn't how to lock the flywheel so I just =
grabbed the pulley and torqued as hard as I could on the bolt

The only question I have for everyone, what size is the bolt that holds =
on the tensioner (goes through a small hole in a bracket that is =
connected to the engine block) for the power steering pulley at the =
right of the engine? I dropped it down into the engine and like a lot =
of dropped bolts .. it disappeared.

Thanks,
Paulo
