a) if the tranny bites the dust and has to come out

b) You can inspect the lining thickness by peeking in through the
inspection hole and observing how much remaining travel there is for the
throw out bearing

c) if the hydraulic slave cylinder bites the dust.

You can delay (c) by keeping the brake/clutch fluid clean, as you should
anyways.

>Oh, and as a side note, any opinions on double-clutching?

You do this by 'ear' not by staring at the tach. On a downshift, place the
car in neutral, let out the clutch, jab at the throttle, put the clutch
back in, then gently engage the lower gear. When it just slips in
immediately without pressure or delay, you've got it!
