Fan thermoswitch Replacement
Posted by Peter Duniho - http://saabnet.com/tsn/forms/e.php3 (more from Peter Duniho - http://saabnet.com/tsn/forms/e.php3) on Wed, 26 May 2004 19:13:05

Well, Murphy strikes again. I decided not to bother replacing the
thermoswitch for the fan last summer when I had the thermostat replaced.
It was working fine at the time (duh). But of course, it finally gave
up the ghost.

I've purchased the lower-temperature version, and am getting ready to
install it. However, I thought I'd see if anyone had any tips before I
rush out and do the job. I browsed through the archives and only saw a
single comment along the lines of 'if your fingers are nimble enough,
you don't have to drain the coolant'.

Looking at the setup, it's certainly more appealing than when I had to
replace the same switch on my 99, which was way down at the bottom of
the radiator. This switch is up in the top corner, and I can certainly
imagine that with a quick motion, it would be possible to minimize (or
even eliminate?) any spillage.

So the question is, is there anything more to it than just being quick,
smooth, and accurate with removing the old switch and installing the
new? Or is it really just that basic?

Thanks!
