TCS/ETS & Throttle Body

I've been experiencing intermittent classic problem associated with the
TCS/ETS in my '93 9000CSET (warning light comes on, goes into limp-home mode,
re-starts car restores normal condition) about 6 times since October. At
various times different Saab technicians at different shops would use Tech-II
to clear out the error codes, citing anything from corroded wiring to bad O2
sensor. Today while my car is in the shop again (Saab dealer), this time the
technician cites the likely culprit to be a failing throttle body unit. He
estimates the replacement of a new unit, including parts & labour to be ~
Cdn$1900, with the new part coming from Sweden. I told them I'll think about
it.

My questions:

1) Does this quote seem to be in the right ballpark ? I figure I should check
with a few other shops too just to make sure I'm getting a reasonable quote,
considering different shops' hourly rates, etc.
2) Are there other causes of the TCS/ETS errors ? I'm not clear on whether
the problem is caused by electronic glitches or mechanical, or both ?
3) If I go ahead with the throttle body replacement, are there other related
parts that should be examined or replaced at the same time ? I've heard the
safety bleeder valve to be prone to failure although it seems like a small
and cheap item to replace.

Thanks in advance !
