The Direct Ignition cassette (what you replaced) has gone through
three to five different redesigns since being introduced in 1988 on
the 9000. The newest ones are said to be the most reliable.

Everyone with DI (9000, NG 900, 9-3 & 9-5) on a 4 cylinder (except
the Viggen & 9-5 Aero) will be happy to know that all of the
4-cylinder DI cassettes supercede to the latest part number. That's
with Saab DI, DI/APC or Trionic.
