I doubt it. If the speedometer is working but not the odometer, then the
signal is getting to the head. I had one like that and it was a mechanical
(plastic gear problem) inside. It was fixed by being sent back to US
service center. Some states will only allow repairs to odometers by
manufacturers etc.
(PS I think I caused the trouble by not quite resetting the trip gauge once
and it ran a bit out of synch for 30 miles.)
