Filing Brake Disc

A bit of advice required here, we have been having problems with squeeking
brakes, so we took it back to the company we bought it from and they have
done the following. Taken a coarse FILE to the disc's to take off the edges,
of all the disks and in the process scored the main part of the Disc as
well. Is this common practice ? They say it was to 'de-glaze' the disc's but
I thought you only could deglaze the pads? We are worried that the scoring
on the Disc is going to cause excessive wear on the pads, not to mention
that the disc would be out of balance now they have filed bits off of it.
... the car is a 1995 900XS.
