Coolant Loss

Hi. I have a question for the list. I bought an immaculate 88 900 Turbo
ragtop last September. Since then I've driven it maybe 2000 miles, a fair
weather friend w/top down. It has 222,500 miles on it. All accesories were
replaced including turbo by previous owner but motor never opened up. Owner
did many mods on car and it now produces 20 lbs of boost; quick as a new one
but better looking.

Here's the issue. In the period I have driven it I have had to add maybe a
quart of coolant or water every 500 miles or so. I haven't seen evidence of
leaks so I wonder if anybody has had the same experience or has any ideas. I
suppose I could have a slightly leaking head gasket but it runs so strong
with no evidence of odd (white steam) exhaust that I think that's not real
likely.

Should I have a compression test, or what? All suggestions from more
experienced owners would be appreciated!
