I am not really advising anyone to just change the diameter on your
exhaust. It depends on what engine you have.
With a turbo it is not really a problem since it will 'press/force' out
the exhaust gases and you might gain some hp. But with a naturally
aspirated engine I would be a little careful. The original exhaust
system has been developed for a certain amount of backpressure in the
system which the engine is tuned to. If you change that pressure you
could possibly get some problems with the engine and even loose hp...

Do also remember that the car manufacturer has certain laws it has to
follow, those laws does not really apply after the car has been sold.
Emissions, noise and so on.
