Leaky Heater Matrix

In reply to your query about a leaking heater matrix.

I have just replaced the heater matrix on my 1995 Saab 9000 CSE 2.3 LPT.
The job went better than expected, although I had read the Haynes manual
and postings on the TSN before hand. It seems that it is easier to replace
the matrix in newer 9000's than older ones. On my car there is removal
panel on the false firewall which lifts out after removing two bolts. I
also had to remove two of the computers, but not the wiper rods or plastic
trim below the windscreen. The air conditioning evaporator has to the
lifted up and to the right in order to first remove the blower motor then
the heater matrix. Remember to release the air mix control rod from the
lever on the right hand side of the blower before the blower is released.
It took me about 3 hours to complet the job.

My matrix had been leaking for about 4 months, although only a small lose
of coolant the smell has quite bad at times (from the antifreeze). The car
also misted up in cold weather. I tried 'Barsleak' and this stop the smell
and leaks for about 2 months only.

Hope this helps
