First check contact pins at the throttle body, bulkhead/firewall (big round
twist-off connector), gas pedal potentiometer, vacuum switch attached to the
bulkhead/firewall, and vacuum switch that sits on top of the left inner
fender.

If contact cleaning doesn't fix it, an ISAT or Tech-II scan tool will have
to be used to calibrate the system, read any stored fault codes, and
discover the offending component. After component replacement, the
calibration routine must usually be carried out again.

Most common faulty component is the throttle body itself. Otherwise, it
could be one of the vacuum switches, or the gas pedal potentiometer.
