It takes me both hands and some serious yanking. This morning I was worried
that the door handle would break before the ice seal did:-(

Slam the palm of your hand against the door frame in multiple places.
Ice is a very brittle material, and will shatter.
If that's too painful, you could invest in a small rubber mallet.
