Check Engine Light

My 91 9000cd has started to do something strange.

Every time I take it through a carwash (non contact) the check engine light
comes on.

If I shut the engine off immediately upon exiting the carwash, the light
goes off when the engine is re-started. If not, the engine will shut down as
I try to accelerate. Engine starts immediately

This has been going on for about 2 weeks.

Yesterday and today, while on the highway, quick check of instruments, check
engine light on, 2 minutes later its off. Engine appears to be running fine,
with no loss of power. Symptoms re-appear once or twice on each 20km trip on
the highway.

I recently had the DI module changed (third one on this car -200000km) so it
should not be that.

Any ideas?
