    I own a 1999 Saab 9-5 and something happened to me the other night that I 
wanted to pass along and see if anyone has heard anything about this problem. 
 I was driving down the Florida Tnpk last thursday night hoping I wouldn't 
hear anything about Elian Gonzalez on the radio when the problem occurred.  
The car suddenly lurched, the engine light came on, and the cruise control 
went off.  The car still ran but poorly and had no power to speak of.  I 
thought oh Lord please don't let me get stuck on the side of the road.  Well 
it wasn't far from home and I was able to make it.  I called Saab Roadside 
Assistance and they had the car towed to Deel Saab where I purchased it.  
After checking it they said that it was the 'Computer' and that it would have 
to be ordered from Sweden as there was none in the U.S. available.  They said 
it should take about two weeks.  The service writer said that apparently 
there were quite a few Saab's with this problem, thus the lack of units in 
stock in this country.  My question is: Has anyone heard of anything like 
this and if there was a recall about this would I have been left out of the 
loop somehow?  I tried to check on the Slick 50 thing with the FTC but 
couldn't find anything.  Keep on Saabing !!
