Tire Substitutions

I have a 1993 9000 Aero. The stock tire size is 205/55 16. Will wider tires
fit? eg 225/50 16 (same overall diameter). Pros and cons of doing this? Has
anyone palyed with this? Tires I'm considering include Goodyear Eagle F1
GS-D3, Yokohama AVS ES100, Continental ContiExtremeContact. Are the summer
tires substantially better than an all season tire? What about when it gets
cooler or colder outside? Any insights would be appreciated?
Please reply directly to me as the digest comes only periodically. I used to
get a couple of different digests related to the Saab Network. Now I only get
one. Was there a change in the mailing list?
TIA,
Dave
