This is why every red-DI-cassette-equipped SAAB ('90-'98 9000, '94-98 900
turbo, '99 9-3) should carry a good-used spare cassette in the trunk at all
times. With just a little research, a used cassette can be purchased for
$50-$80. It can make the difference between perpetual stress/uncertainty of
an impending failure, and pretty much complete peace of mind.

Don't be amazed. A cassette swap is incredibly easy. It can be
accomplished in less than ten minutes using only the tools that come in the
car's toolkit. Absolutely anyone can do it.

Note that the retail/list price of a brand new cassette (part number 91 78
955) is approximately $335. Substantial savings from retail/list prices (as
much as 25% in some cases) can be had by calling Kachina SAAB/Cadillac at
800-955-1205.

There are very few problems that an unequipped owner/driver can diagnose and
repair on a modern SAAB without professional assistance. The DI cassette is
one of them.
