Since SAAB seems to have problem putting the power down to the pavement
with it's actual drivetrain layout consider the following thought. GM now
has a 20 % participation in SUBARU. For us North Americans Subaru =
Forester (one of which I own after a 1983 SAAB 900 and a 1991 Accord. The
Subaru is much closer in approach to a SAAB that I could think possible),
Outback and the likes. But in Japan and Great Britain Subaru = Impreza
Turbo wich has up to 280 hp. Car Magazine has just named the Impreza Turbo
the Car of the decade.

Now imagine that through all these connections SAAB puts its hands on the
AWD system made by Subaru. Based on the experience I have with my Forester
(its a very good handling car and not at all an SUV) and all the good press
high powered Subarus get, a high powered SAAB with a Subaru based
drivetrain would be a winner. Hope the big honchos at GM get the same idea.
