Cell Phone Interference

I just bought a 2002 Saab 9-3 SE with a 5-speed and premium package with
heated seats. While out at the store on Sunday I noticed that I can not send
or receive cell phone calls on my Motorola STARTAC phone while in my SAAB
(With Onstar). The phone rings and when I pick up the phone is disconnected.
The phone can not connect to a tower to call out even though I have 4-5 bars
(Full signal). Is this a normal occurrence and is there a way to get around
this problem if it is? Phone does work with car off and is better with the
sunroof open. Is this interference with the ONSTAR system or is the roof
just not letting any signals through? Does anyone know of an external mount
antennae kit for a STARTAC ST7868W digital cell phone with Verizon Wireless?
Has anyone else dealt with this problem before? What did you do? I would
prefer not to pay extra for my ONSTAR phone when I already pay for cellular
service through Verizon Wireless.

Thanks

Tom C
