This is annoying but it's a sensible safety feature: start a ski trip
from NY in dampness and progress up north. The display switches
to temp to indicate to you that you might be encountering ice on the
roads. On a daily basis it is annoying since I'm trying to drive my
Aero for mileage (pretty dumb to buy an Aero and then stay concerned
about mileage, but that's one of the alleged beauties about turbos).

This is interesting that you relate this to temperature. I had always
thought that I had a 'dead spot' in my encoder (the thingie that sends
the knob turning signal), but now that you mention the temp
sensitivity, it agrees with my symptoms. Of course, I have no idea
why, or what I can do about it!
