Hmmm, FWIW, the tranny is the big deal, and on that alone, I'd get a new
car. All the other things can be done on your own time...gee, sounds like
you got about a week+ of troubleshooting, not to mention replacement
costs. And after all is said and one, you will still have a 1986 with
160K miles on it....If replacement costs were a bit more reasonable, I'd
say go for it, but, its not the case.

I've been a saab owner for over 20 years, and I've noticed every time it
goes to the garage, the parts cost is 2-3 times more than the labor cost.
An I try to do as much work on the beast as I can! In the end you will
have an old car with a new rotation of parts with 160K miles, IMO, its not
worth it.
