Lack of Oil Pressure at Startup

I asked for advice on a problem with lack of oil pressure at
start-up on a friend's -86 9kT. Based on the advice I checked the
oil sensor, pressure relief valve, and replaced the oil pump - the
problem was still present. It was hard to believe the pickup screen
would be clogged because of the fully synthetic oil changed every 6k
miles, but it was the only thing that hadn't been checked.

After removing the oil sump the cause was clear - a big piece of
thick paper was clogging the screen of the pickup tube! How is this
possible...well, there were also pieces of a snapped timing chain so
we figured the mechanic who did the chain job somehow dropped the
paper in.

So, it was a clogged pickup screen after all!
Thank you for all the advice I received.
