Make sure the coolant level and drive belt tension/condition OK,and if they
are, try changing the thermostat. Based on some postings in the NG900
Bulletin Board, the temp gauge isn't actually reading the actual engine temp
, but what the car's computer thinks is correct based on various sensor
inputs (boo!!...I'd prefer a 'real' temp gauge!). My 98 recently had the
temp gauge start reading irratic...OK sometime, low at other times, somewhat
based on how the car was being driven. I changed the thermostat, as
mentioned in the BB postings, and it's doing fine now.Ê
