Cold Starting

I have a 1987 900 T16 question that I suspect has been asked and answered
many times before re-Coldstarting. It all went horribly wrong when tinkering
with sealing inlet manifold vaccum hoses, cleaning throttle valve, replacing
vaccum hoses etc. and cleaning what seemed like a significant amount of oil
off the air mass meter internals (with expensive 'precison', no residue
electronic cleaner that claims to have no effect on resistances.) I have
since adjusted idle control, throttle switch and timing as described on the
TSN archive. It has resulted in a very smooth running car when hot, but a
driving nightmare when cold. It starts well, idles for 10s, then trys to
stall. The AIC must compensate as it then cycles between 1500 and zero for a
couple of minutes. Anyway my major concern is that I have somehow upset the
air mass meter. Its an aluminium type (LH 2.2), with the black plastic top
siliconed on, so I'm not sure what the previous owner has done to it. I
couldn't get the 320ohms across pins 3 & 6. My meter stayed on '1'. Grossly
all the wires etc within the AMM are as I found them. Its also adjustable but
realise this is Saab technican territory.

If something was wrong with the AMM would it still be running warm alright?
What else could I have upset, while carrying out the above? Does anyone have
any suggestions or advice. Thanks in advance.
James
