DI Cassette & Catalytic Converter Hole

I was wondering if any of you out there have had experiences similar to
these. My 1994 9000 Aero apparently is in need of a new DI cassette. The
symptoms that lead me to believe this is true are intermittent missing,
seemingly at random, leaving the car running with 3 cylinders, sometimes 2
cylinders, and the other night 1 cylinder. There is no rhyme or reason when
the cylinders come and go. They just do. Everyone I've mentioned this to
has directed me towards the DI cassette. This has been going on for a while
now.

I am having another seemingly unrelated problem (perhaps not!). My
catalytic converter has developed a hole where the hanger mount is fastened
on. Normal wear and tear perhaps, but I stumbled on a message posted on TSN
that talked about a Saab that burnt up it's cat when it was run while
missing. The theory was that the unburned gas from the cylinders was
burning in the cat. This theory may hold come credence. An incident
occurred a few months ago in which I was driving on 2 cylinders for about
10 mins. and I happened to look out of the rear view mirror and thought I
saw something glowing orange and bouncing behind my car, as though a piece
of something hot had fallen from my car. I continued on to my destination
and looked under my car and didn't see anything glowing or out of the
ordinary (the missing cured itself before I reached my destination). Last
week, I pulled into a gas station after leaving the interstate when the
engine decided to go down to 2 cylinders, and I'm relatively certain that I
could 'smell' increased heat coming from the car.

The bottom line is that I think that the failure of the DI cassette has
lead to the early failure of my catalytic converter. I'm going to have them
fixed soon. Any good sources of these parts?
