Radiator Fan Blows Fuses

I am brand new to this list, and brand new to SAAB, so please bear with me.
My son owns a 1992 9000 2.3L Turbo with 190K. The fuse (30 amp) for his
radiator fan has now blown 3 times in the last week or so, and the engine
temp nearly overheats...he puts on the a/c which runs another fan to provide
some cooling. He has had the car about 9 months now, and this has never
been a problem before. He thinks that the fan used to occasionally run
after shutting down the engine, and it doesnt seem to do that any more. He
is young and this is his first car, so I am hoping to help him out here with
minimum expense, if possible.
Is this a familiar problem for these 9000 s.... and, if so, is there a
likely culprit? Where should i begin to look?
Any suggestions are welcome, and thank you in advance.
