Clarion Stereo

I have a '93 9000 w/ the Clarion stereo , which is intermittently
misbehaving. Sometimes the radio starts flashing and won't play nor respond
to any switching buttons. If turned off for a little while it may or may not
then behave, and if it does it may work fine for as long as I wish to listen
or it may die again without warning. I don't know if this is related but it
started happening shortly after I'd had taken out the cd player to have a
local electronics repair shop extract a cd-r that the unit would not eject.
Also, I have been reluctant to try another cd since then. Is there reason to
be concerned about this? Are the radio/cassette unit problems somehow
related? Is there a reasonable fix?
TIA,
Dave

ps please copy any replies to me personally above and beyond the list.
