Poor Run After Sitting

one of my 9000 T's sat for months. Then it would barely stay running and
there was no power even to move the car ahead. My usually good mechanic
replaced the distributor/cap/rotor, and now it idles fine and runs fine,
until boost builds. At that point, the engine stubles horribly. Dark smoke
comes out of the tail pipe, and the car doesnt want to go foward. The
mechanic-- who had to go on vacation-- says that that means unburned fuel in
the exhaust. (He couldnt test drive it, bc i had no plates on the car.)

Could anyone point me in the right direction ? I would like to try to get
it running better for the short term, even before he gets back.

Thank you very much.
