Sputtering Stall

My daughters '96 9000CS has developed a problem of sputtering to a
stall...acting as if fuel supply is being disrupted. The first time it quit
we had it towed to a dealer's shop where it failed to crank several hours
after it had quit...however, after sitting overnight, it cranked and ran
beautifully.

The diagnostic indicated a bad O2 Sensor which was replaced. That did
improve the engine smoothness and power but 3 days later the sputtering stall
occurs again. This time after it sat for 30 minutes or so, it cranked and
ran smoothly. When it has stalled, it will attempt to start but you can get
nothing more than a few seconds of idle.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Suggestions?
