Oil Question

This may be a tired question but one I feel the need to ask about. Please
keep in mind I have never gotten more than 5000 miles out of any oil (Even
Mobil 1) in mixed driving and now I drive only in trips of 1-2 miles at a
time. I recently got my first oil change (At 4800 miles) on my 2002 Saab 9-3
SE with 2.0 L turbo. The owner's manual suggested 5,000 because of my
constant city driving and full synthetic. My dealer recommended 10,000 miles
on full synthetic and 5,000 on semi synthetic Saab oil. When I got my oil
change they changed me to semi synthetic oil (Not what I wanted or thought I
was getting). So I want to put in a full synthetic and was wondering what
oil to use. I have several I wish to know about; Saab full synthetic, Red
Line full synthetic, Royal Purple, or Amsoil. The Amsoil, Red Line, and
Royal Purple all seem like great oils but they all say they are better than
all the others, so I need some help deciding. I am also not sure if they
match the oil ratings required by Saab. The makers claim they do but when I
went to their web site the claims posted on the oil description pages
matched some claims but not all.

I also have noticed sluggish shifting on my 5 speed manual gearbox and was
wondering what to do about it (I live in North Central NY and it is cold
right now). I only have 5800 miles on my vehicle so far. Did Saab use
synthetic gear oil already or would a switch be a good thing, and what lube
would you recommend? I will probably stay away from Red Line synthetic
because of fear of damage to my 9-3's tranny.

Thanks your help is appreciated.
