Sunroof Interchange

The steel sunroof on my '92 9000 took the brunt of a recent nasty
hailstorm, and now looks like someone whacked it 20 times with a ball-peen
hammer. The dents are much more pronounced on the sunroof than on the roof
or hood. Insurance co. says it's more cost-effective to replace the steel
part. But in pondering its repair/replacement, it occurred to me that I've
come to prefer the glass sunroof as equipped on our '97 9000 CSE. Anyone
have any experience or insight on whether steel sunroofs are
interchangeable with glass sunroofs (and the related manual sun shade of
the glass version)? My dealer says he hasn't heard of such a conversion.
TIA.
