A gent on another email list I'm on is *extremely* knowledgeable of
what's going on with GM - He seems to know what GM is doing/planning
before anyone else does. Anyway, I forwarded the original post to him to
get his thoughts on the subject - This is his reply:

Yes, after spending $1 billion for Saab, GM plans to double worldwide
sales to 250,000 by 2005 and the brands are already being combined in
Europe; in part to save money but even more, to revitalize Cadillac.

That decision raised some controversy there:

And may raise more in NA when Saabs are sold by Cadillac stores and
assembled in MI:

In addition to that Zeta platform LAV, Sigma and Epsilon Saab cars will
be built both in Germany and in the US.

AFA styling, yes, some sharing too. Which isn't all that new: park a
Catera (Opel/Vauxhall Omega elsewhere) beside a Saab 9-3 and what do you
see? Cousins at the least. Before the Caddy's 2000 'taillift,' they
even shared reflective rears!

I hope Cadillac sells a Northstar V-8 version of Saab sport sedan or
coupe. Take that Mercedes, BMW and Lexus...
