Another tricky and poorly documented procedure (kind of like removing a
front headrest!).

1. Remove the retaining bolt (you already did this).

2. Move the gear selector in the car to position '1'.

3. Pull the tranny end of the cable out, away from the tranny, towards the
firewall. Pull HARD, and/or use a small screwdriver for leverage until it
pops out of the tranny case.

4. Now you will see a spring-loaded sleeve, which must be slid back TOWARDS
the tranny while the cable itself is being pulled AWAY from the tranny.
Clean all grease/oil from the cable and sleeve, and from your hands,
otherwise you'll be very very frustrated.

5. Only now will you be able to see the actual cable joint depicted in the
Haynes, and slide the two engaging halves apart.

Believe it or not, it's the same cable ! It's just that the Haynes
description of the unhooking procedure S U C K S !
