Bruce, I had a similar problem in my 1987 900S. It would click but not lock
any doors. Actually, the fact that it clicks probably is a good thing - at
least it's doing something! I pulled my dash apart, finally located the
thing, and found it to be absolutely sound. My problem turned out to be
wiring. Do you know if the 9000's were subject to the same bad wiring some
of the 900's were in '86-'87? Fortunately, none of my major systems are
affected by this, but the DOOR wiring is terrible in my car. If you grab
hold of one of the wires and rub it between your fingers, the insulation
will just crumble off into powder. On the 900, the wiring in the door goes
through a flexible boot into the inner fender, where it goes to various
connectors. From the flexible boot to the plugs (probably a foot or so of
wiring) ALL of the wires were bare and some of them were broken. I ended up
taking the inner panel off the door and soldering in new wires from their
source in the door on up to the connectors. This fixed my power locks.

I've wondered for the four years I've had the car why the passenger side
power seat belt hasn't worked when all the mechanisms under the back seat
check out fine. A peek into the inner fender on the right side revealed
that all of that wiring is in even worse shape.

Another project for another day.

Good luck,

John Francis
