Boy, I had an annoying leak for a long time in my '84 900 until I ripped =
off the under-dash knee-bolster and the heater distribution ductwork. =
It turned out to be rust at the bottom of the air conditioning =
evaporator. So when it rained, water would enter the fresh air intake =
through the slots in the top of the hood. On its way out of the =
evaporator recess, through the built-in drain (a thick, rubber tube that =
dumps out into the right-front wheel well), it would hit this rust hole =
and slowly drip into the cabin floor. In my case it was the passengers =
floor that would get soaked because that's the side the A/C stuff is on. =
I didn't want to rip out all the A/C plumbing just to fix it, so I just =
treated the rust I could see with a rust-inhibiting solution, then =
gooped up the whole area with silicone. It's been working fine for the =
past couple of rainy seasons. Good Luck.
