Re: Drivers Side Mirror Glass Removal

You didn't have to go to Sweden to get the split-curve driver's side mirror
- your local US Saab dealer can order it. Mine did! It's about $100. I
notice that the 2000 models don't seem to have the split-curve passenger
side mirror anymore - too bad. But you can probably order both mirrors (I
had to, as I have a '97 which didn't come with one.)

Replacement of the mirror is simple. Using the in-car button, tilt the
mirror glass all the way to the left. This is so you can get a grip on it.
Then just slip your fingers behind the right side of the glass and pull
gently but firmly - it will snap off (there are clips). Disconnect the
heater wire. Now reverse the process with the new glass - connect the
heater, position the glass in place and push (gently but firmly) - it will
snap onto the bracket.

I found that for the driver's side, even with the split-curve mirror, I
wish the mirror would tilt a bit more. The solution for that is to
dismount the motor (three screws, after removing the glass), put 2-3 flat
washers behind each screw position, then remount the motor and the glass.
This moves the mirror out a bit more so you can tilt it further.
