I used to own 2 mercedes diesels. It's been the great
cars I've ever owned as far as maintenance,
reliability and girth but I'd never own one again
unless it was a new type (direct injection turbo).

The typical ones are waaaay to slow and it pisses off
everyone in back of you because of the stench. The
typical diesel is too noisy for passenger cars (except
the new ones) although I wouldn't mind a Ford
powerstroke truck or a Dodge with a Cummins. I would
pay higher gas prices than revert to a diesel. just
my 2 cents. I have to admit that I live in a congested
city. If I lived in the country I would be more open
minded to diesels.
