DETROIT (Reuters) - The criminals are on the loose; the Batmobile is nearly
out of jet fuel. What's a superhero to do? Use the latest Bat-utility --
General Motors Corp.'s (GM.N) OnStar wireless communication and information
service -- to find the nearest Gotham City gas station.

GM expects to expand its OnStar subscriber base to 1 million by the end of
this year from the current number of about 120,000. The three-button system
will be available as a standard feature or an option on 29 GM vehicles and
all Saabs by the end of the year. Toyota Motor Corp. (7203.T) is close to
an agreement to offer OnStar as an option on its vehicles sold in the
United States, OnStar officials said. At the push of a button, drivers are
linked to the OnStar Center, where advisors are available 24 hours a day to
give directions, make restaurant reservations, and offer any other help.
OnStar automatically calls for help if air bags are deployed.
