That's about right. Definitely have the fan motor replaced as well. It is
not good for much more than 10 years of service, and the amount of work to
change it is equal to the amount of work to change the heater core.

Based on what I have seen, it is standard practice for a SAAB owner to be
charged for things like new compressors and new condensers when he/she shows
up at an independent A/C repair facility (whether these parts are necessary
or not). Generally, the A/C facility plans to give you a 4-digit service
bill before they even start talking to you. If this is not the case,
consider yourself very fortunate.

For reference, I have changed the heater core and fan motor is our '93
(which is identical to your '94), and I did not have to disconnect the A/C
refrigerant lines. It was more difficult and tedious to do it with the
lines connected, but it is possible, and allows you to omit the refrigerant
evacuation and charging procedures.

You need to slide the plastic pins into a channel in the back side of the
molding first. Then line the pins up with the plastic bushings that are
pressed into the door, and press the molding against the door until each pin
snaps into place.
