John: I have a '91 9000S that is on its second water pump at 171,000 Mi.

I replaced the second one myself, and found in the course of doing the job
that I really didn't need a new pump! The leakage was actually due to
shrinkage in the two O-rings that seal the pipe entry to the block, located
under the exhaust manifold. I did replace the pump anyway since I had it.
Shortly after replacing the pump, a leak developed from what I thought was
due to a heater core. It turns out that this leak was also due to two more
small O-rings sealing the plug-in fittings that carry coolant to and from
the heater core ---- not due to a leaking heater core.

I suggest you visually determine exactly where your leaks are coming from
before you buy a lot of new parts, I didn't do that!

The first (original) water pump was leaking from the shaft seal area through
the little drain hole and really needed replacement.

I could describe the pump r&r if you want it.
