My 92 S has always run over the middle and setting in traffic the needle will
go just to the red where the cooling fan kicks on. Scary as it is, it has
never gone into the red. Some thing about the 92's, they had a different
gauge span, so 192F is over half way. Andrews of Princeton has changed the
switch to a lower turn on temp. on some so the fan comes on sooner giving
some relief from the appearance it is overheating, but I never had mine
changed. I recommend checking with an experienced SAAB shop, but what I
heard was that the 92's were set up different and it upset people so they
went back to the more normal gauge set up the next year. For what it is
worth.
